Related to
the drug Zopiclone of the same class, Alpidem differs from Zopiclone in that it does not produce
sedative effects at normal doses. It was introduced relatively
recently and is primarily intended to act as an
anxiolytic. Sadly it was withdrawn under
the brand name of Anaxyl from the market following reports of severe
liver damage; over brands may still be available.
